OBITUARY | Sr. Mary Hubert McQuinn, CPPS
A Funeral Mass for Sister Mary Hubert McQuinn, CPPS, was celebrated April 21 at St. Joseph Chapel in O’Fallon. Sister Mary Hubert, 86, died April 17 at Mount Carmel Senior Living in O’Fallon.
Born in Conception, Mo., she entered the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood in 1950 and professed first vows on Aug. 10, 1953. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Latin at St. Louis University and a master’s degree in theology at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio.
Sister Mary Hubert served as an elementary school teacher at St. George and Holy Innocents Schools in St. Louis; St. Peter in Quincy, Ill.; St. Columba (Immaculate Conception) in Conception, Mo.; St. Pius X in San Antonio, Texas; St. Mary in Glasgow, Mo.; and Assumption in O’Fallon.
She taught theology in summer school at St. Mary’s College and ministered for 10 years as a Director of Religious Education in Boonville. For the next eleven years, she was a pastoral minister in Iowa, serving a cluster parish in Hospers, Alton and Granville and then at St. Anthony Parish in Des Moines.
In 2006, Sister Mary Hubert moved to O’Fallon, where she served in various volunteer capacities, one of which was coordination of hospitality. She always went the extra mile to help guests feel welcome.
Sister Mary Hubert is survived by a brother, Stephen, and two sisters, Kathleen Schafer and Joan Luke.
