Obituary | Sister Patricia Ann Flavin, CSJ
The funeral Mass for Sister Patricia Ann Flavin was celebrated Jan. 31 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in St. Charles. Sister Patricia Ann died Jan. 27 at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles. She was 85 and had been a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet for 66 years with ministries in education and pastoral ministry.
Born in St. Louis, she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1950 and made final profession in 1958. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Fontbonne College in 1969.
Sister Patricia Ann was a dietitian at Nazareth Convent in 1959 and a dinning-room worker at Fontbonne in 1960 before starting a 44-year career in education. She taught at St. Gregory School in St. Ann (1960-64), St. Joseph Industrial School in Keshena, Wis. (1964-66), Nativity of Our Lord School in St. Louis (1966-1976) and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton/St. Robert Regional School in St. Charles (1976-2004). She was religious education director at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in 1990 before retiring from education in 2004.
She was a volunteer and also a driver for the Senior Ministry Office (2004-05) before moving into hospital pastoral ministry. She served at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Peters in clinical pastoral education (2005) and as a pastoral minister (2005-09), then at Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes St. Peters as a chaplain (2009-17). She retired in 2017.
