About Sister Joan Pitlyk (S. Mary Odelia): The most rewarding years of my life were my 23 years of ministry with the Institute of Religious Formation at Saint Louis University. Priests, brothers and sisters from around the world came to study in preparation for their future ministry in religious formation. I met over 1,400 dedicated priests, religious women and men who have left a deep impression on my heart and on my life as a Sister of St. Joseph. I enjoy creative writing and in 2018 I published a book of children’s poetry, “The Rabbit Who Nibbled and Other Poems.” In 2021, I published another book of short stories, “Five Dogs, a Rabbit and a Nun.” As I celebrate now this milestone of 75 years, I feel a deep sense of gratitude to God for the many blessings in my life, especially my family, my Sisters of St. Joseph, my friends and all who have been a part of this journey.”
