New health clinic at Peter and Paul Community Services
NOVUS Health is opening a new health clinic, NOVUS on the Northside, inside the Peter &Paul Community Campus in north St. Louis in partnership with Peter &Paul Community Services. The clinic will provide on-site primary and specialty health care services to residents of the Community Campus and is open to the public. The clinic will operate several days a week beginning in mid-February and adjust hours based on community needs. Services include primary care, lab services, specialty care for HIV and hepatitis, wellness prevention screenings, STD/STI testing and on-site pharmacy services. The health clinic will also provide education services, assistance with MO Healthnet applications and SNAP benefits. NOVUS on the Northside accepts most health insurances including Missouri and Illinois Medicaid as well as a sliding scale fee for uninsured patients. A ribbon cutting and open house was held Feb. 13.
Spiritual charism workshop
The archdiocesan Catholic Renewal Center will host Clothed With Power From on High: Spiritual Charism Workshop from 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Cardinal Rigali Center, 20 Archbishop May Drive in Shrewsbury. Learn about what your charisms are, how to exercise them and live in them. Guest speakers will be Jane Guenther, Anne Hruz, Jeff Barczewski and Kim Stanley. Naming and Commendation
Our Lady of Lourdes will hold the Rite of Naming and Commendation for an Infant Who Has Died Before Birth at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at the parish, 7148 Forsyth Blvd. in University City. (The rite will follow Mass at 9 a.m.) The rite memorializes children who have died before birth, including miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion or accident. It also offers parents and families an opportunity to name the child and unite with our merciful God, which can help bring peaceful closure to great loss. Living Laudato Si’
Sister Cheryl Kemner, OSF, will give a talk on Catholic teaching and practice in Pope Francis’ encyclical letter “Laudato Si’” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Sacred Heart Church, 17 Ann Ave. in Valley Park. Lenten book study
The Daughters of St. Paul will lead a Lenten book study on Pope Francis’ encyclical, “Dilexit Nos” (On the Human and Divine Love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. March 6-April 1 at Pauline Books &Media, 9804 Watson Road in Crestwood. Participants will explore the centrality of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the history, theology, devotion and missionary activity of the Church and consider how God is calling you to respond to the love of His Son. Floriani concert
All are invited to a free concert by musical group Floriani at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Oratory of St. Francis de Sales, 2653 Ohio Ave. in St. Louis. The concert will feature sacred music throughout the history of the Church as well as original compositions. Sisters who Marched on Selma
“Witness History: The Sisters Who Marched on Selma,” an event commemorating the 60th anniversary of civil rights March on Selma through the eyes of the U.S. Catholic sisters who answered the call for justice, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at St. Joseph’s Academy in Frontenac. The event will include a screening of the documentary “Sisters of Selma,” followed by a panel discussion including Sisters Barbara Moore and Rosemary Flanigan, CSJ, Sister Barbara Lum, SSJ, filmmaker Jayasri (Joyce) Hart and Claire Hundelt of the Vatterott family, whose father helped make the sisters’ historic journey possible.
