Decree on former Prep North chapel
Archbishop Mitchell T. Rozanski issued a canonical decree Dec. 2 regarding the former St. Louis Preparatory Seminary-North Seminary Chapel in Florissant, relegating it to “profane but not sordid use.” The term is used in Church law when a church building will no longer be used for Catholic liturgical worship and means that the building may be used for a secular reason, but one that is not unbecoming, immoral or offensive to Catholics. The chapel most recently had been a worship site for All Saints Academy at St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, which closed in 2023. To read the full decree, see stlreview.com/41dwPji.
