Concert and Festival of St. Louis
St. Francis de Sales Oratory will host a “Music of the Crusades” concert and reception at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the oratory, 2653 Ohio Ave. in St. Louis. Musicians from the St. Louis area and beyond will present melodies sung by the Knights of Malta, the Polish Winged Hussars and the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher. There will be a special focus on chants pertinent to St. Louis IX, in addition to period instrumental works. Admission is free, and a reception will follow.
The concert is part of the fifth annual Festival of St. Louis on Aug. 23-25, with several events including traditional liturgies, other prayer opportunities, social activities and concluding with a procession of a relic of St. Louis from the Oratory of Sts. Gregory and Augustine to the Apotheosis of St. Louis in Forest Park for a public Rosary. A Rosary novena will be prayed at the Apotheosis of St. Louis at 6:30 p.m. from Aug. 17-24.
