About the Position: Gift Specialist

SLUH’s profound commitment to financial aid ($4.1M in 2017-18) relies on the generosity and support of SLUH alumni, parents, and benefactors. The Gift Specialist plays a critical role within the administrative support structure of the Advancement Office to ensure that the school responds promptly and graciously to donors. The Gift Specialist maintains SLUH’s high standard of meticulous record keeping and helps ensure members of our advancement team are supported administratively for success in
their various roles.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Record gifts, pledges, and event registrations. Ensure accuracy of donor identity and donor preferences
  • Create and updates donor database records
  • Produce acknowledgments and appropriate tax receipts
  • Review, proofread, and analyze data for accuracy, logic and relevance
  • Edit and proofread letters and other communication instruments
  • Oversee the corporate matching gift program
  • Coordinate the reception of gifts of stock
  • Perform queries, reports, exports, and imports with database
  • Merge data from database into spreadsheets and word processing documents
  • Serve as initial point of contact for donors with questions and requests for records
  • Provide administrative support for events and gift officers

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have administrative support experience, preferably in an advancement office setting, and will be able to demonstrate the following qualities:

  • The desire and ability to represent and advance the school’s Jesuit Catholic mission
  • Strong attention to detail, high level of organization, and problem resolution skills
  • A donor-centered mindset and excellent customer service. Anticipate well
  • Burning passion for accuracy and details, especially within a database
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work within a complex CRM. Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred
  • Capability of managing variety of technological instruments and software systems, e.g. Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Blackbaud products, and the ability to learn new applications and systems
