School Counselor

Saint Louis Priory School, a Benedictine, Catholic, and college preparatory school for boys in grades 7 through 12 seeks a part-time counselor for the 2018-19 academic year. The position is for 25-30 hours per week, with the exact daily and weekly schedule to be determined by the school administration. The counselor is expected to have excellent communication skills with families and colleagues in regard to the student’s social/emotional growth and academic well-being. School counseling experience is preferred. The primary duties of the school counselor include the following:

  • Provide individual and group therapy; family and crisis intervention as needed to help students effectively cope with personal, social, academic, career and family issues.
  • Consult and work with parents, teachers, staff, administrators, and supporting agencies
    concerning the needs and abilities of students.
  • Identify students with social emotional needs and make appropriate recommendations and referrals.
  • Assessment, development and implementation of social/emotional and academic goals and objectives for the students with educational assessments.
  • Coordinate application and approval of all testing accommodations for students with submitted educational assessments, including ACT and College Board.
  • Assist with parent/student orientation, information nights and in the ongoing development of a school-wide health and wellness program.
