Manager Vincentian Formation


The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Archdiocese of St. Louis (SVDP), is a grassroots, volunteer-based, direct-aid organization that brings together men and women to grow in their spirituality through service for others.  We have been serving the Greater St. Louis area since 1845.  SVDP is part of a national organization and linked by the common mission of the Society of St.Vincent de Paul. 

The Archdiocesan Council is composed of 140+ parish-based volunteer groups called Conferences.  The Main Council operation serves as a resource and support system for these Conferences. 

The Manager of Vincentian Formation plans, guides and directs activities directed towards the spiritual and faith formation essential for Vincentians to carry out their mission of service in keeping with the principles and Rule of SVDP.


Formation Support Responsibilities:

  • Works with Director of Vincentian Programs, Council and Board Officers, and District and Conference Presidents, to assess the formation needs of Vincentians and Conferences, and develop collaborative and supportive strategies to meet those needs
  • Plans and organizes opportunities for spiritual development and formation for the Council as a whole, and for individual Conferences, based on assessment and feedback from Vincentians, via reflections, days of recollection, spiritual gatherings, classes, speakers and seminars, feast day celebrations, and other appropriate formation activities and vehicles
  • Works with district presidents to identify specific training needs in their Districts, and to gain their support in addressing them; ensures that all training and Communications are done in the context of Spiritual Formation and three Pillars of Vincentians life
  • Develops, secures, and ensures delivery of training, especially Ozanam Orientations, as determined necessary to carry out Vincentian mission most effectively
  • Assists with design and implementation of approaches to better integrate Vincentians Conferences into the life of Parish
  • Provides formation guidance, and assists as appropriate, with special programs and events (i.e. Walk for the Poor, Day of Prayer and Reflection, Cool Breeze Fan Drive, etc.)
  • Assesses impact of formation and training activities and makes adjustments/develops strategies and plans to improve
  • Attends district meetings and other conference meeting

Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Assists with preparation of Archdiocesan Council annual report and other reports required of Vincentian Services
  • Assists with maintaining conference records (i.e., formation and training records, audits, membership updates, Conference Activity Reports, etc.)
  • Communicates conference difficulties promptly to district presidents and council leadership, and helps develop solutions

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for membership formation and training updates in national database
  • Responsible for preparation of the Conference Directory and resource guide


  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, plus advanced training in theology and spiritual formation
  • Minimum five (5) years related faith formation experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult education/formation methodologies (experience preferred)
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity and comfort with social media
