Next Mass Mob Nov. 26 celebrates feast of Christ the King in University City

Tucked away in a diverse neighborhood in the heart of University City, Christ the King Parish considers itself a well-kept secret of the neighborhood.

Parishioner Mary Fox, who was born and raised here, described the parish as "an extended part of my family." Fox, who went on to raise her own family in University City, noted that the people are "very supportive in your time of need. The people turn to you before you ask."

A day of service for the Lord

Over 350 parishioners at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in University City took part in a day of service. The day was the result of a stratigic plan put into place by parishioners in an effort to show compassionate service as a hallmark of their social ministry. Neena Wang cleaned a window in the St. Augustine parish rectory.

Among many poignant moments in Our Lady of Lourdes' Day of Service and Fellowship, a homeowner in University City came outside to check out his yard after parish volunteers had cleaned and otherwise prettied it up.

He had no words.

Just tears.

Similar scenes played out through the day, Oct. 25, as about 340 volunteers from Our Lady of Lourdes fanned out in U. City as part of the city's service day.
