St. Stephen Protomartyr School third-grader Keira Dawson wasted no time in getting to work on the Hearts for Ferguson project, with colored markers in hand and the creative process flowing.
Students at the school had been asked to send some love to the children at schools in Ferguson, where a police shooting of an 18-year-old sparked protests and violence covered by media worldwide.
"I'm writing 'peace' with a rainbow and peace sign," Keira said, while coloring a heart she would cut out with scissors. "I just think it will make more peace in Ferguson."
