A memorial Mass will be celebrated for Jesuit Father Donald W. Reck at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at the Jesuit Hall Community Chapel in St. Louis. Father Reck, 83, died Feb. 23 in St. Louis after a long illness. He was a Jesuit for 64 years and a priest for 51 years.
Born in St. Louis, he graduated from St. Louis University High School in 1951. He spent a year at St. Louis University before entering the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) at St. Stanislaus Seminary in Florissant in 1952.
A memorial Mass for Jesuit Father Wilfred L. (Bill) LaCroix was held Jan. 2 in the Fusz Pavilion Chapel at Jesuit Hall in St. Louis. Father LaCroix died Dec. 22 at the Jesuit elder care community after a long illness. He was 83 years old, a Jesuit for 57 years and a priest for 47 years.
Father LaCroix was born Nov. 27, 1933, in Kansas City, Mo. He graduated in 1955 from Marquette University in Milwaukee with a bachelor's in radio journalism and English. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served four years on ships patrolling the seas around Japan and the Philippines.
A memorial Mass is being planned for Jesuit Father Robert R. DeRouen, who died Sept. 19 in St. Louis. Father DeRouen, 93, recently marked 75 years as a Jesuit.
Born in Trinidad, Colo., he entered the Society of Jesus in Florissant in 1941 and was ordained in 1954 at St. Mary's College in St. Marys, Kan. He pronounced final vows in 1957 in the Regis College Chapel in Denver.
A funeral Mass for Father Robert F. Weiss, SJ, was celebrated June 14 at St. Francis Xavier (College) Church. A former president of Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo., and St. Louis University High School, Father Weiss died June 9 at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis.
He was 91 years old and about to mark the 70th anniversary of his entrance into the Society of Jesus.
