Obituary | Sr. Mary Angelita Terrio, FSM

A memorial Mass for Sister Mary Angelita Terrio, FSM, will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, in the chapel at The Sarah Community in Bridgeton. Sister Angelita died June 12 at The Sarah Community. A Franciscan Sister of Mary for more than 72 years, she was 87.

Born Adele Bernardine Terrio on August 2, 1929, in St. Charles, she entered the Sisters of St. Mary on August 4, 1944. She received the name Sr. Mary Angelita, and she professed final vows September 29, 1950. She completed a bachelor's in nursing from St. Louis University in 1954.

Obituary | Sr. Marie Christine Berner, FSM

A funeral Mass for Sister Marie Christine Berner was celebrated Feb. 13 in the chapel at The Sarah Community in Bridgeton.

Sister Christine, a Franciscan Sister of Mary for 61 years, died Feb. 8 at The Sarah Community. She was 78.

Born Marjorie Ann Berner in St. Louis, she entered the Sisters of St. Mary in 1955, received the name Sister Marie Christine and professed final vows in 1963. (The Sisters of St. Mary reunited with the Sisters of St. Francis of Maryville, Mo., as the Franciscan Sisters of Mary in 1987.)

Obituary | Sr. Mary Dorine Wittenbrink, FSM

A memorial Mass for Sister Mary Dorine Wittenbrink, FSM, was celebrated Jan. 11 in the chapel at The Sarah Community in Bridgeton.

A Franciscan Sister of Mary for 82 years, Sister Mary Dorine died Jan. 2 at The Sarah Community. She was 100.

She was known as "preemie Sister" for her legendary work with the tiniest of babies. She established the premature nursery at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison, Wis., and developed the instructional programs for physicians and nurses on caring for these infants.

Obituary | Sr. Mary Anne Murphy, FSM

A funeral Mass for Sister Mary Anne Murphy was celebrated Nov. 28 in the chapel at The Sarah Community in Bridgeton.

Sister Mary Anne, a Franciscan Sister of Mary for 59 years and a retired registered nurse and operating room supervisor, died Nov. 22 at The Sarah Community. She was 85.

Born in St. Louis, she studied nursing at St. John's School of Nursing in St. Louis (affiliated with St. Louis University) and became a registered nurse in 1952; in 1969 she was certified in operating room administration through Queens University and Hotel, also affiliated with St. Louis University.

Obituary | Sr. Mary Louise Jaegers, FSM

A funeral Mass for Sister Mary Louise Jaegers, FSM, was held Sept. 20 in the chapel at the Sarah Community in Bridgeton. Sister Mary Louise, a longtime dietitian, died Friday, Sept. 16.

Sister Mary Louise was a Franciscan Sister of Mary for nearly 72 years and was 93.

She was born in Loose Creek, Mo., one of nine children in her family. She entered the Sisters of St. Mary in 1944 and received the religious name Sister Mary Conradine. She professed final vows in 1950. She received a bachelor's degree in 1952 and master's degree in 1956, both in dietetics from St. Louis University.
