Review, Catholic St. Louis receive top honors from Catholic Press Association

A sampling of the issues that were awarded at the Catholic Press Association Awards ceremony.

The St. Louis Review and Catholic St. Louis received a combined 36 awards from the Catholic Press Association at the Catholic Media Conference awards banquet June 23 at Laval University in Quebec, Canada.

Last month, our staff was honored with awards by the Catholic Press Association for work we did in 2014.

Being recognized by peers always feels good. People who work hard and tell good stories deserve to be recognized. To know that the stories we told ranked among the best in the U.S. and Canada is humbling. But these aren't our stories. They're yours.

When I was in journalism school (no, not Mizzou), I was fond of journalism contests. I guess I figured accolades from other journalists were a good measure of my success and ability to execute my craft. I was pretty sure winning contests would help me get a good job.
