‘Holiness’ series ties in with new papal document

A four-week summer series on the "Journey from Sin to Holiness — Seven Deadly Sins, Seven Lively Virtues" video series by Auxiliary Bishop Robert Barron of Los Angeles is planned at 12 sites in the archdiocese. Bishop Barron is an author, speaker, theologian and founder of the global media ministry Word on Fire.

The format allows for about thirty minutes of discussion after the video presentation. In the video, Bishop Barron explains how the seven lively virtues offer antidotes to each sin. They also set people on the right path to healing and happiness.

Three new auxiliary bishops ordained for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles

Los Angeles Archbishop Jose H. Gomez handed the Book of the Gospels to Auxiliary Bishop Robert E. Barron at his episcopal ordination Sept. 8 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES -- Three new auxiliary bishops have been ordained to help shepherd the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the largest in the United States.

Archbishop Jose H. Gomez, together with Chicago Archbishop Blase J. Cupich and retired Auxiliary Bishop Joseph M. Sartoris of Los Angeles, ordained Bishops Robert E. Barron, Joseph V. Brennan and David G. O'Connell to the episcopacy Sept. 8 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.
