Father Maximilian Toczylowski removed at St. Louis Priory

Benedictine Father Maximilian Toczylowski, director of the junior school at Saint Louis Priory School, has been removed from his roles at the school after "inappropriate images" were found on his laptop computer, according to a letter from Priory's headmaster.

In a May 31 letter to parents from Benedictine Father Gregory Mohrman, the images were found during a routine review of electronic devices used by school staff. He noted that the images were downloaded from the internet and the subjects involved were not associated with the school.

Benedictine abbots elect head of Conception Abbey abbot primate

ROME — A room with a view of the dome of St. Peter's Basilica from a monastery atop the Aventine Hill is very nice, but Abbot Gregory Polan knows he will miss his brother monks at Conception Abbey in Missouri very, very much.

The new room at the Rome monastery of St. Anselm comes with Abbot Polan's election Sept. 10 as abbot primate of the worldwide Benedictine Confederation, a network of men's monasteries.
