Tenor to sing for the Blues

Catholic tenor Scott Kennebeck was among nine people chosen to perform the National Anthem in a competition hosted by the St. Louis Blues and St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. Kennebeck, a cantor at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis and executive director of St. Louis Cathedral Concerts, was chosen from more than 650 people who auditioned last month. He will sing the "Star Spangled Banner" and "O Canada" at the Blues vs. the Montreal Canadiens game Jan. 30, 2018.

SSND double centenarians

School Sisters of Notre Dame Mary Frederick Keller, right,and Antonice Backes, left, celebrated their 100th birthdays with a special celebration Aug. 20 at the Sarah Community in Bridgeton. Both centenarians were longtime teachers and volunteers in the archdiocese. Sister Antonice taught elementary school and has volunteered with the St. Augustine-Wellston Center. Sister Mary Frederick taught math and chemistry and volunteers at the Sarah Community, including maintaining the Anna House Chronicles, which keeps track of residents there.
