Roman Catholic Foundation starts endowment for retired priests

Father Harold Voelker, Father Ronald Rubbelke, Father Robert Argent and Msgr. Richard Lubeley joined Roman Catholic Foundation of Eastern Missouri president/CEO Mark Guyol for the bell ringing to celebrate the establishment of the Retired Archdiocesan Priests' Endowment Fund. The Priests' Mutual Benefit Society of the Archdiocese of St. Louis established the fund to provide ongoing general support for retired archdiocesan priests.

Employee of the Year

Nevenka Radonic, maintenance/custodian at St. Agnes Apartments in St. Louis, was recently selected as Cardinal Ritter Senior Services (CRSS) Employee of the Year. Sara Varghese, certified medication technician at Mary Queen and Mother Center nursing home in Shrewsbury, was awarded the CRSS Mission Alive Person of the Year Star. In addition, 30 employees were honored for five, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service.

Laying of the wreaths

Jack Feise, an eighth-grader at Our Lady of Lourdes School in University City, recently completed a Confirmation service project by volunteering to place holiday wreaths on the graves of military veterans at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.

Jack participated in Wreaths Across America, a national effort in which wreaths are placed on veterans' graves at cemeteries and memorial sites across America. Last year, wreaths were placed at more than 1.2 million veterans' graves at more than 1,100 sites in all 50 states.
