Honoring veterans

Valle Catholic Schools honored military veterans with their annual Veterans Day Celebration on Nov. 7 at Ste. Genevieve Church. Veterans from World War II to current conflicts in Afghanistan/Iraq attended, along with the entire student body — kindergarten through 12th grade. Pastor and school president Father Ed Nemeth celebrated Mass, which was followed by "Taps," three-round volleys and an honor walk en route to a reception at the school.

Souls and Goals

The fifth annual Souls and Goals soccer game will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at Christian Brothers College High School, 1850 De La Salle Drive in Creve Coeur. The match pits seminarians against archdiocesan priests. The seminarians have three wins in four previous meetings. For information, visit www.soulsandgoals.org.

Cor Jesu seniors achieve perfection

Seniors Caroline Farroll and Madeleine Pasque of Cor Jesu Acedemy each earned the top composite score of 36 on the ACT in testing this month, marking the first time that two Cor Jesu students have achieved the perfect ACT score on the same testing date. Nationally, less than one-tenth of one percent of students who take the ACT earns the top score.

Shelter seeks items

Room at the Inn is seeking clothes, backpacks and school materials for the children of its clients. Also sought is toilet paper and paper towels. Sponsored by the Sisters of Divine Providence, Room at the Inn provides emergency shelter and a support system to women and families in need in St. Louis County, using an interfaith effort of congregations and organizations.
