Obituary | Sister Mary Vianney Johnson, RSM

A funeral Mass for Sister Mary Vianney Johnson was celebrated Feb. 6 at Mercy Center Chapel in St. Louis. Sister Vianney, a member of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, died Feb. 2 at the age of 84.

Born Joann Cecilia Johnson in St. Louis, she graduated from Mercy High School in St. Louis and earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Webster College in St. Louis and a master's degree in education administration from St. Louis University. She entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1951 in St. Louis, and made perpetual vows in 1957.

Obituary | Sister Mary Doris Ashcraft, FSM

A memorial mass for Sister Mary Doris Ashcraft, FSM, will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9 in the chapel at The Sarah Community in Bridgeton. Sister Doris died Jan. 26 at The Sarah Community. She was 82 and had been a Franciscan Sister of Mary for 62 years.

Obituary | Sr. Virginia Ann Driscoll, SL

A funeral Mass for Loretto Sister Virginia Ann Driscoll was celebrated Jan. 10 at the Church of the Seven Dolors on the grounds of Loretto Motherhouse in Nerinx, Ky. Sister Virginia Ann was a longtime educator who taught and was principal at the former DeAndreis High School in St. Louis and served on the faculty at Webster College (now university) in Webster Groves.

Sister Virginia Ann died Dec. 29 at Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary. She was 98 and in her 77th year as a Sister of Loretto at the Foot of the Cross.

Obituary | Msgr. John J. Kennedy

A funeral Mass for Msgr. John J. Kennedy was celebrated Jan. 23 at St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Richmond Heights. He was an educator and longtime pastor of St. Luke before his retirement.

Msgr. Kennedy, 93, died Jan. 18. Born in St. Louis, he attended St. Louis Preparatory Seminary and Kenrick Seminary and was ordained in 1949 at Kenrick by then-Archbishop Joseph E. Ritter.

Obituary | Sr. Maria Tessari, OSF

A funeral Mass for Sister Maria Tessari will be celebrated at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, in the Lally Room on the Cardinal Carberry Campus of Cardinal Ritter Senior Services, 7601 Watson Road in Shrewsbury. A wake will precede the Mass at 4 p.m.

Sister Maria, 74, died Jan. 16 at Mary Queen and Mother Center in Shrewsbury.

Obituary | Sr. Sheila Prendeville, CPPS

A funeral Mass for Sister Sheila Prendeville will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, in St. Joseph Chapel of the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood, 204 N. Main St. in O'Fallon. A wake will precede the Mass at 10 a.m.

Sister Sheila, 72, died Jan. 8.

Born in St. Louis, she entered the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood community in 1963 just months after graduating from Bishop DuBourg High School. When she became a novice, she was given the name Sister John Marie.
