Obituary | Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo

RICHMOND, Va. — Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo of Richmond, Va., died at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond Aug. 17 from heart and kidney failure. He was 75.

A funeral Mass for the bishop was celebrated Aug. 25 followed by entombment in the Cathedral Crypt.

A native of Philadelphia, he was named the 12th bishop of Richmond by St. John Paul II March 31, 2004. Before he was appointed to the Virginia diocese, he was the bishop of Honolulu. He also was a former auxiliary bishop in Scranton, Pa.

Obituary | Mary Elizabeth Godefroy, VHM

A funeral Mass was celebrated for Sister Mary Elizabeth Godefroy, VHM, Aug. 18 in the chapel of Visitation Academy in Town and Country. Sister Mary Elizabeth died Aug. 15 at the Visitation Monastery at Catherine's Residence in Frontenac. She was 91.

Born in Mexico City, Mexico, in 1926, she was the oldest of four children. Because of the persecution of Catholics in Mexico during the first quarter of the 20th century, the children received their religious education in secret. They went to a private home for catechism instruction and their First Communion.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated for Sister Mary Joan Meyer, FSM, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, in the chapel at The Sarah Community, 12284 DePaul Drive in Bridgeton.

A Franciscan Sister of Mary for 54 years, Sister Mary Joan died Aug. 20 at The Sarah Community in Bridgeton. She was 79.

A funeral Mass was celebrated for Sister Anne Dorothy Schober, OSU, Aug. 17 at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church in Encino, Calif. Sister Anne Dorothy died Aug. 14 at Los Roblas Hospital in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Born in 1945 in Jamaica, N.Y., she entered the Ursuline Sisters in Crystal City in 1964 and professed first vows in 1967. She earned a bachelor's degree in history from Marillac College in St. Louis and a master's degree in theology from St. Mary's University in San Antonio.

Obituary | Deacon Roger Kreitler

A funeral Mass for Deacon Roger Kreitler was celebrated Aug. 10 at St Raphael the Archangel Parish in St. Louis. Deacon Kreitler died Aug. 6. He was 77 and had been a deacon for 16 years.

Born on Jan 9, 1940, in Festus, he married Johanna Zagroba on Nov. 7. They were blessed with three children (Jeff, Brian and Keith), along with two grandchildren (Mena and Brenin). He served our country for 6 years in the Missouri Air National Guard.

Obituary | Sr. Joanne Seiser, SNDdeN

A funeral Mass for Sister Joanne (Mary Gregory) Seiser, SNDdeN, was celebrated Aug. 1 at the St. Julie Chapel in the Mount Notre Dame convent in Cincinnati. Sister Joanne died July 28 at Mount Notre Dame. She was 89 and had been a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 72 years.
