NEW YORK — After “Shrek,” it’s easy to forget that filmmakers once played fairy tales straight. Walt Disney, the studio synonymous with such traditional interpretations, offers another enjoyable example in its 50th full-length animated release.

Largely irony-free and lacking the snarky quality of many movies aimed at kids, “Tangled” is a throwback Uncle Walt would recognize and applaud. So will families.

NEW YORK — In a 2001 incident that rail enthusiasts call the "Crazy Eights," an unmanned train carrying, along with other cargo, thousands of gallons of a highly toxic compound called molten phenol hurtled through the Ohio countryside for two hours. That episode provides the factual basis for "Unstoppable," a gripping suspense tale that transcends simple entertainment by showcasing altruism in the pursuit of public safety.
