Amy Diemer is the new managing attorney at the Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry, beginning her duties at the Catholic Charities agency on June 1. Diemer was a family law attorney and mediator based in Clayton. She replaces Marie Kenyon, who was named director of the Peace and Justice Commission of the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
TripAdvisor has awarded the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis its 2015 Certificate of Excellence. The travel website told cathedral staff that the New Cathedral gets "consistently great reviews from TripAdvisor travelers." The cathedral ranks as the No. 2 site to visit in St. Louis out of 321 venues, behind Missouri Botanical Garden. The cathedral basilica was a Travelers' Choice 2014 winner.
Martin Duggan, a journalist who was active in Catholic causes, died May 27 at St. Agnes Home in Kirkwood at age 93. Duggan had a 45-year newspaper career at the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, where he was editor of the editorial page. He later hosted "Donybrook" on KETC, Channel 9, and recently was named a recipient of this year's Archbishop Robert J. Carlson Excellence in Communication Award.
