Letters to the editor
I want to point out that in the edition of June 13-19, the section "Around #CATHOLICSTL" is seriously incorrect when it declares: Although the Missouri primaries are over."
August 2 is the primary election for many state offices, including governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, attorney general and treasurer; county offices, such as sheriff and circuit attorney; and every congressman and one senator for Missouri.
Primary elections of this sort are the very beginning step to putting effective, principled persons in office, and glossing over them as you do is seriously mistaken.
Please, before Aug. 2, do something to alert Catholics in this archdiocese to pay attention to the importance of this primary election.
Robert Byrne, St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, St. Louis
Editor's note: We encourage readers to vote with a formed concsious. See www.archstl.org/vote for more details. The last day to register to the Aug. 2 primary is July 6. See www.sos.mo.gov/elections/goVoteMissouri/register.
Thanks to Bishop Hermann
I'd like to thank Bishop Robert J. Hermann for his inspired and inspiring weekly column, 'I Thought You Should Know', with his reflections on the Sunday Scriptures. Bishop Hermann takes the Sunday Scripture readings and gives the reader clear and down to earth examples of their relevance to daily living. I cut out these articles, save, and re-read them to help me remember the truth of God's limitless love for humanity and show me the way to share His love with my neighbor.
