Catholic Cemeteries reports 2,235 burials in FY 2012-13

The Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of St. Louis buried 2,235 individuals during the fiscal year July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013.

RESURRECTION in Affton, with 302 acres, was founded in 1929. It had the most burials in the archdiocese with 877.

CALVARY in north St. Louis, with 477 acres, is one of the oldest cemeteries, dating from 1853. It had the second most burials with 703 last year.

SACRED HEART in Florissant dates to 1874 and has 14 acres. It had 201 burials last year.

STS. PETER AND PAUL in South St. Louis, with 88 acres, dates from 1864. Last year there were 149 burials there.

HOLY CROSS in Ellisville has 52.8 acres and was dedicated in 1986 to serve the southwestern portion of St. Louis County and Franklin County. There were 86 burials there last year.

OUR LADY in Lake St. Louis was founded in 1975 and has 285 acres. Last year the cemetery had 48 burials.

ST. PETER in Kirkwood has six acres and dates to 1832. There were 34 burials there last year.

MOUNT OLIVE in Lemay was founded in 1857 by the city of Carondelet and has 15 acres. Last year there were 34 burials at the cemetery.

ST. FERDINAND in Florissant has 35 acres and opened in 1875, although burials there began 100 years earlier at the old St. Ferdinand Cemetery. There were 33 burials there last year.

STE. PHILIPPINE in St. Charles was dedicated in 2000 and has 37 acres. Last year there were 25 burials at the cemetery.

ST. CHARLES BORROMEO in St. Charles dates from 1856 and has eight acres. There were 15 burials last year.

ST. MARY in Bridgeton was founded as a parish in 1852, and the cemetery was believed to be founded around the same time. There are about 4.5 acres in the current cemetery site. Last year the cemetery had 14 burials.

ST. MONICA in Creve Coeur was founded in 1872 and has one acre. There were 13 burials there last year.

OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE in Byrnesville was founded in 1850 and has 15 acres. There were seven burials last year.

ST. VINCENT in Arnold was dedicated in 2002. It has 32 acres. There were three burials there last year.

ASCENSION in Franklin County, just outside of Washington, was dedicated by Cardinal Raymond L. Burke in 2007 and has 150 acres. There were no burials there last year.
