National night of prayer Dec. 8-9 to protect sanctity of life

More than two dozen archdiocesan parishes will participate in the 23rd annual National Night of Prayer for Life next week.

They will join others around the nation in a period of eucharistic adoration and prayer for the unborn, praying for an end to abortion and protection for the sanctity of human life. The evening prayer spans the feast of the Immaculate Conception on Saturday, Dec. 8, and the anniversary of Our Lady of Guadalupe's first apparition to St. Juan Diego on Sunday, Dec. 9.

The following parishes will have eucharistic adoration from 9 p.m. Dec. 8 until 1 a.m. Dec. 9:

  • St. George, 4980 Heege Road in Affton (Each hour will begin with Rosary, Divine Mercy chaplet and prayer to St. Michael the Archangel. The evening of prayer will end with a midnight Mass.)
  • St. Joseph, 106 N. Meramec Ave. in Clayton

The following parishes will have eucharistic adoration from 8 p.m.-midnight Dec. 8, in union with the National Night of Prayer intentions:

  • St. Anselm, 500 S. Mason Road in Creve Coeur
  • St. Dominic Savio, 7748 Mackenzie Road in Affton (in chapel in the Huhn Center, adjacent to the parking lot behind church)
  • St. Ferdinand, 1765 Charbonier Road in Florissant (in eucharistic adoration chapel)
  • St. Joseph, 138 St. Joseph Lane in Apple Creek
  • St. Mary Magdalen, 2618 Brentwood Blvd. in Brentwood
  • St. Maurus, 10198 Highway B in Biehle
  • St. Paul, 2267 St. Paul Road in St. Paul (in adoration chapel)

The following parishes will have a eucharistic holy hour from 11 p.m.-midnight Dec. 8 -- the "hour of unity" with the National Night of Prayer for Life:

  • Annunziata, 925 Cella Road in Ladue (in eucharistic adoration chapel)
  • Assumption, 4725 Mattis Road in Mattes
  • St. Ann 7851 Hwy. YY in Clover Bottom
  • St. Joseph, 1355 Motherhead Road in Cottleville (in adoration chapel)
  • St. Paul, 15 Forest Knoll in Fenton

  • Our Lady of Lourdes, 1014 Madison Ave. in Washington (in adoration chapel), 9 p.m. pro-life prayers, 10 p.m. Benediction, with continued silent prayers through night on Dec. 8
  • Queen of All Saints, 6603 Christopher Dr. in Oakville, 8:15 p.m. eucharistic adoration and Rosary with Benediction at 10 p.m. Dec. 7
  • St. Alban Roe, 2001 Shepard Road in Wildwood, eucharistic adoration in chapel from 9 p.m.-midnight. Dec. 8
  • St. Clement of Rome, 1510 Bopp Road in Des Peres, (in eucharistic adoration chapel) 7 p.m.-midnight Dec. 8

  • St. Peter, 324 S. Third St. in St. Charles, eucharistic adoration from 6 p.m.-midnight (Benediction at 11:45 p.m.) Dec. 8
  • St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, 2650 Parker Road in Florissant, eucharistic adoration from 6-10 p.m. Dec. 8
  • St. Theodore, 5051 Highway P in Flint Hill, eucharistic adoration beginning after 8 a.m. Mass Tuesday, Dec. 11, ending with pro-life prayers and Benediction at 8:45 p.m.
