SPOKANE, Wash. — Jesuit Father John Morris, who organized the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, died at a Jesuit infirmary in Spokane Sept. 30, less than a month shy of his 85th birthday. A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 6 at St. Aloysius Church in Spokane. Father Morris, known as "Jack" to the thousands of laypeople who served in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps for more than a half-century, had long been ill with cancer.
