Human trafficking injustice

The Justice Office of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet would like to commend Archbishop Carlson for his Easter message in the April 6 edition of the St. Louis Review, speaking to the issue of human trafficking. This is an issue that is very dear to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.

In the summer of 2011, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet joined our sisters in the U.S. Federation of St. Joseph in our commitment to educate, advocate and minister on the injustice of human trafficking. Through our mission to restore right relationships, we are called to eliminate all forms of slavery and oppression and we are grateful to have Archbishop Carlson join us in this important ministry.

We encourage others to join us by learning about the causes of trafficking and by supporting local organizations that serve the survivors, such as The Covering House (thecoveringhouse.org) that works to offer shelter for women who've been trafficked and the Healing Action Network (healingactionnetwork.com) that works to train law enforcement as well as to provide support and counseling for survivors of trafficking.
