Priest accused of child porn could face life term in prison

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly versionSend to friendSend to friend KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Federal prosecutors filed a motion Aug. 18 requesting that Father Shawn Ratigan, a priest of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph arrested on child pornography charges, remain in jail while awaiting trial. Prosecutors also said the priest, 45, should receive life in prison if convicted. The Kansas City Star daily newspaper reported that Father Ratigan had his first federal court appearance Aug. 18 on 13 counts of the production, attempted production and possession of child pornography. His lawyer entered not guilty pleas for the priest on all the federal charges.
