Julie had a mischievous side to her. Her brother Chris, who is blind, occasionally would order fish when they ate out together. Julie liked to tell Chris she was putting tartar sauce on his fish when it actually was horseradish sauce. She liked to ride her bike to the Delmar Loop. She was intelligent, always got great grades in school and had a degree from Northwest Missouri State University. "She was always very serious about education," her brother said. "She got me through high school."
