One of the most touching moments with my father occurred a few years ago as his health continued to deteriorate. It became very clear that he could no longer enter a bathtub and wash his weary body. I spent an evening with him and then took him carefully into the shower. Washing his body, creased with age and a lifetime of hard work, moved me beyond words. I now ran a washrag over the body of a man who had performed the same ministry for me decades before.
