Five transitional deacons ordained for archdiocese 

Archbishop Robert J. Carlson ordained five seminarians to the transitional diaconate for the Archdiocese of St. Louis May 6 at Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis. Four of the men to be ordained at Kenrick-Glennon seminarians. The fifth, Donald Anstoetter, attends Pontifical North American College in Rome. Transitional deacons are seminarians in their last year of preparation for ordination to the priesthood. A transitional deacon may baptize, distribute Holy Communion, witness marriages and lead rites for Christian burial.
