State senate advances human trafficking bill

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly versionSend to friendSend to friendOn April 28, the Missouri Senate passed by a 34-0 a human trafficking bill to strengthen penalties against convicted human traffickers and require law-enforcement to refer the victims of sex trafficking to social services agencies for counseling and other assistance. The bill (SCS HCS HB 214) originated in the House, where Rep. Anne Zerr, R-St. Charles, sponsored it. The bill goes to back to the House, where the Senate's changes to the bill will need to be affirmed.
