This cross, which once was at the top of the steeple at Holy Spirit Parish in Maryland Heights, was venerated inside the church Good Friday, April 22, after the steeple was ripped from the church building during a tornado that hit the North County area.

Singing “Alleluia” took on a new meaning on Easter for many parishioners after a tornado on Good Friday leveled homes, tore roofs and walls off others and caused a wide assortment of other property damage. The tornado that hit parts of the archdiocese April 22 struck first in New Melle before ripping through the Bridgeton area and cutting a path through North St. Louis County and heading across the Mississippi River into Illinois.
