JEFFERSON CITY -- Nearly 300 activists -- most clad in red -- gathered in the rotunda of the Missouri State Capitol April 5 for the Pro-Life Action Day organized by Missouri Right to Life, the state's largest non-partisan pro-life organization. The focus of this year's rally was late-term abortions, an issue currently being debated in the legislature. Sponsored by Rep. Timothy Jones, R-Eureka, HB 213 would prohibit abortions for viable unborn children who are 20 weeks or more in gestation. An exception remains for medical emergencies where the life and health of the mother is endangered.
