More than 1,000 people participated in the listening sessions held around the archdiocese this year for Archbishop Robert J. Carlson's Mission Advancement Initiative for Catholic Schools, and another 1,700 people took part in a related online survey. The archbishop has called on all Catholic schools to be "Alive in Christ." The process focused on the three questions considered a priority by the archbishop:
  1. How can we strengthen our schools' Catholic identity?
  2. How can we increase the number of students in our Catholic schools?
