According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2007, the most recent year for which data is available, heart disease claimed 616,067 lives, cancer killed 562,875 and 18,361 people were murdered. While these deaths are tragic, it is alarming — and perhaps indicative — that the numbers reported by the U.S. government do not include the intentional death of unborn babies.
