Catholic Relief Services aid workers evacuated in Sudan

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly versionSend to friendSend to friend WASHINGTON — More than a dozen Catholic Relief Services aid workers were evacuated from a remote area of Western Darfur to the Sudanese capital of Khartoum Jan. 21 with the help of the United Nations after receiving "indications of threats." In all, 13 international and national aid workers were escorted out of outlying sections of El Geneina near the border with Chad at the request of Sudanese officials, John Rivera, CRS director of communications, said from the agency's Baltimore headquarters.
