Bill would give parents stipend for education of their children

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly versionSend to friendSend to friendA bill filed in the state House of Representatives would amend the Missouri Constitution to offer parents a stipend for educating their children at any accredited K-12 school in Missouri, including Catholic schools. The proposed amendment, HJR 10 sponsored by State Rep. Jay Barnes, R-Jefferson City, would also repeal current language in the state constitution that prohibits assistance to any activities that support a religious creed or religious school.
