Like so many Hispanic immigrants, Javier Orozco's family came to the United States seeking a better way of life.
His father came from Mexico to the Chicago area in the mid-1960s with several of his older siblings, while his mother stayed back with the rest of the family in La Purisima, a small village in the Mexican state of Durango.
