1818: Congregation of the Mission (Vincentian Fathers and Brothers) arrive in Perryville
1826: Bishop Joseph Rosati, a Vincentian, is named the first bishop of the Diocese of St. Louis
1828: Daughters of Charity arrive in St. Louis
1845: The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is founded in the United States at the Cathedral of St. Louis, King of France (Old Cathedral)
