Sisters of St. Joseph find new resting place at Resurrection

Sister Jean Meier, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet’s St. Louis Province leadership, waved a palm fern laden with holy water and sprinkled it on the grave markers of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet at a July 31 prayer service and blessing. More than 1,200 sisters were moved from the community’s Nazareth Cemetery South County to Resurrection Cemetery in nearby Affton.

For this moment, all was quiet at Resurrection Cemetery. On this particular summer evening, members of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet were there to be still, to listen — and to remember their fellow members in community who had gone before them.
