Coach Lou Holtz stresses values, pro-life position at Vitae appearance
Legendary college football coach Lou Holtz said June 28 that as a Catholic he has the proper understanding of the value of life, formed by his faith.
But he said his view also is one of common sense.
"There's a lot of things I don't understand" about support for abortion rights, he said. "I don't understand why a child at school can't get an aspirin without their parent's permission," yet parental permission at times is not needed for an abortion.
"I don't understand why it's permissible to terminate a pregnancy after six or seven months, yet you go to jail for killing the egg of an eagle."
