Missouri legislature passes key bill on abortion
The Missouri General Assembly last week passed legislation that would prohibit abortion coverage in insurance exchanges developed under the new federal health care reform law. The session closed May 14.
SB 793, sponsored by Sen. Robert Mayer, R-Dexter, also would require that women be provided a chance to see an ultrasound of their unborn child prior to obtaining an abortion. Women also would be provided with information on maternity homes and pregnancy resource centers that offer emergency housing, counseling, prenatal care and adoption services.
