Pope has no further ties to case of abusive German priest, repeats Fr. Lombardi
Vatican City -- "Mere speculation," said Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi March 26 in response to a New York Times report that claimed to reveal new information showing then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was more connected to the handling of the case of a sexually abusive priest than was previously believed.
Earlier that morning, the Archdiocese of Munich also refuted any further links or new information concerning the assignment of the known pedophile, Father Peter Hullerman, to another parish in 1980.
