A newly published book details the history of Catholicism in Cape Girardeau, Mo., beginning with the arrival of the Vincentians in Baltimore from Europe in the early 1800s, their journey to Bardstown, Ky., and finally to St. Louis to join Bishop Louis W.V. DuBourg.
"Old St. Vincent Church: A Pictorial and Historical Sketch of Catholicism in Cape Girardeau," contains 289 photos. Cape Girardeau was part of the St. Louis Archdiocese until 1956.
