Funeral Mass celebrated for Sr. Mary Arthur Ellis, RSM; educator and certified substance abuse counselor
A funeral Mass was celebrated on Jan. 18 at Mercy Center Chapel in Creve Coeur for Sister Mary Arthur Ellis, RSM.
Sister Mary Arthur, an educator, certified substance abuse counselor and member of the Sisters of Mercy for over 60 years, died on Jan. 16. She was 79.
Born Loretta May Ellis in Joplin, Mo., she entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1949 before receiving a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Webster College in St. Louis and a master's from Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, Texas.
