Consider a spirit of generous give and take
Dear Friends in Christ,
In this final column on the encyclical of Pope Benedict, "Charity in Love," we'll see why popes have been writing letters like this for the past century and more. It's not because the content of the Church's social doctrine changes but because the times we live in change. The pope writes with keen attention to the world today, to the challenges it poses for true, complete, or 'integral" human development and the opportunities to get hold of them -- this is our "vocation," he adds -- and turn them to our advantage.
