Notre Dame senior Maria Kertz worries about friends from Haitian trip

For Maria Kertz, a senior at Notre Dame High School in Lemay, the recent earthquake in Haiti struck close to home.

In March 2009 Maria accompanied her mother, registered nurse Sandra Kertz, on a 10-day medical mission to Haiti.

"My mom has gone on these missions for about five years. She thought it would be a great experience for me," said Maria.

Her mother was right. "I loved it. The country is awesome and the people were great too."
