Bishops support health care reform that protects life

The archdiocesan Respect Life Apostolate is distributing information to parishes asking people to urge Congress to push for health care reform that protects life, not destroys it.
Beth Lauver, director of the Respect Life Apostolate, sent an alert to parishes noting that the U.S. bishops “are calling upon us to act as soon as possible in responding to proposed federal health care legislation.”
Lauver noted that many people already have communicated with elected officials on the topic but are being asked to do once again “to ensure we’ve done everything humanly possible to ask our senators and representatives to incorporate Catholic principles into health care reform.”
She asked for appropriate messages be sent to Sen. Christopher Bond and Sen. Claire McCaskill as well as congressional representatives. A list of representatives is at NCHLA.org.
