Kennedy High School student’s essay earns national mission award
Kearney Cole, a senior on John F. Kennedy Catholic High School, is a top award winner in the national mission essay contest sponsored by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.
Kearney earned the second-place award, chosen from among thousands of entries nationwide in the “Got Good News” contest, for her reflections on her service experience in Honduras.
Msgr. Frank Blood, director of the archdiocesan Mission Office, presented Kearney with her award at an all-school Mass Oct. 21 at the archdiocesan high school in Manchester.
“We’re very proud of Kearney,” Msgr. Blood said. “This is a national award, with the selection process done by the national office of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the United States. Kearney is a bright, insightful, faith-filled young lady. We are proud of her missionary experience and how she learned that missionaries often receive more than they give.”
